Welcome to the Medium Rare Influencer Program: our motley crew of influential chefs, bartenders, dishwashers, hosts and more who’ve signed-up to share our brand with their most valued commodity, their followers. Trusting us with your community is not something we take lightly. In fact, we’re not just grateful, we’re damn honoured.

Our influencers are the hardest working, most humble and honest people in the food and beverage industry. You’re the unsung heroes who work the brunch shift hungover. Who put up with bad tippers, double-shifts and no-shows. We’re inspired by your thick skin and hard-earned respect. Your love for food and how you inspire other foodies is why we want you to wear our Brand. You’re not like most people. Like us, you’re cut from a different cloth.

So, just what is it that you’ve signed up for?

In simple terms, a relationship. We give you great Medium Rare swag and, in exchange, you share it with your Instagram followers. You also get to give them special discounts for Medium Rare products. So, if they like what they see, you make it easy for them to score their own gear. We also ask that you share a few details about how your followers reacted to your sponsored posts. More on that later.

This guide outlines everything you need to know about being a Medium Rare influencer. If we’ve missed something or you have questions along the way, give us a shout. We’re just a text or DM away.

Our Story

A decade ago, we were two hard-working chefs who looked like they spent more time under the hood of a car, than in the kitchen. Clad in drab, uncomfortable and shapeless uniforms we didn’t just look bad, we felt it. For an industry focused on presentation, it seemed chef apparel had missed the mark. That’s when we realized, we’re cut from a different cloth.

We don’t serve bland. So why should we wear it.


Tired of the standard fare, we set out to create a line of culinary apparel we actually wanted to wear— durable, high-quality gear with a streetwear aesthetic. Pieces that made us look good and feel good, whether we were in the kitchen, on the floor or at home. It was 2008 and a new look was taking shape. Medium Rare Chef Apparel was born.


And the industry noticed. Today, our gear is worn in kitchens, behind the bar, serving food and hosting guests. We’ve outfitted Iron Chefs, Top Chefs, Wall of Chefs and home chefs. You can find us in chain and family-owned restaurants, in storefronts and online. Hell, we’re even in gardens and soap factories. Wherever hard-working industry folks are, you’ll find us.We don’t believe uniforms come with uniformity. Break free and let your creative juices flow.

Influencer

Medium Rare Influencer you get a free apron, hat, or other sweet swag to feature on your Instagram account. Show our product in these ways over a period of 30 days.

  • Two of your Instagram posts
  • Two stories (one to include your review on our apron or gear) please don’t use promo code in this story we will add to our highlights  
  • If comfortable with a reel please feel free to be creative!

You’re in control of when you share it in those 30 days and what you say.*

We’ll also send you a discount code you can use and share with your followers to get Medium Rare gear at a reduced price. During your 30-day campaign you get 20% off everything online and your followers receive 15% off. Discount codes are valid for 30 days.

*Yep, as long as it's legal and not hurting anyone, you can say anything. We trust your judgement.

There’s a reason we want you to be an Influencer — because you create compelling content. We’re not here to change that, we’re here to support it. You’re free to share about your Medium Rare experience however you choose. It’s in your hands. You just need to feature our free swag and use our hashtags. Okay, you also need to abide by Canadian regulations and keep your integrity intact, but that goes without saying. Except that legally and ethically we’re required to say it, so we’re covering that too.

Adhering to Regulations

You already tell it like it is on your account and your sponsored posts should be no different. We’re giving you free stuff and your followers have a right to know. So, mark your posts as sponsored and everyone will be happy. Including the law.

When posting content and creating stories about the Medium Rare brand and products, make sure you prominently display the following hashtags in the caption of your content. And don’t forget to tag us. The regulators don’t require it, but we sure as hell don’t want to miss your shout-out.

Your account has access to Instagram’s Paid Partnership Tool, be sure to use it in addition to using the mandatory hashtags.

Influencer Integrity

We’re not looking for polished pros and fancy filters. If that’s you, cool, but we also love gritty realism. We always want you to speak your truth, just make sure you do it in a respectful manner. We’re an inclusive community, and as our influencer, what you say and do reflects our brand. Throughout our relationship it’s super important that all your posts—for the campaign and otherwise—represent a positive image. Living your best life (culinary or otherwise) is a yes; abusive, inflammatory or aggressive comments are a hard no and will not be tolerated. Influencers let’s be real, all humans — should avoid posting any content that promotes illegal activity, bigotry or discrimination based on age, race, gender, religion, nationality, disability or sexual orientation.

SHARING YOUR INSTAGRAM
ANALYTICS


We know analytics is an ugly word. But don’t panic. All we’re looking for is feedback on what your followers think of your sponsored posts. After you post or make a story featuring Medium Rare, you’ll send us a screenshot of your stats. It's like giving us a glimpse into how the back of house runs.

Here’s how it works.

If you’re not already familiar, Instagram has its own built-in analytics tool called Instagram Insights. It gives you instant feedback about your content—posts and stories—so you can see how it’s performing. In order to use Instagram Insights, you’ll need to set your account to “Business Mode”. This won’t affect your profile and you can always change it back at the end of your ambassador campaign.

 How to Change Your Personal Instagram Account to a Business Account

  • Tap the three lines icon at the top right of the screen, then tap Settings
  • Next, tap on Account
  • At the bottom of the list of options, tap on the link Switch to Professional Account
  • Under the Business heading, click on Next, then click Continue
  • Follow the prompts to select a category, then click Next

How to View Instagram Insights for a Post

Click View Insights below the post and swipe up. You’ll now be able to see how many viewers liked your post, the number of comments, and if anyone saved or bookmarked your post. You can also learn which actions were taken on a post, how your post was discovered and more.

How to View Instagram Insights for a Story

Start by visiting your profile. Then, at the top, tap the icon of the bar chart, which will take you to your overall profile insights. Click on Content and then Stories. Click on your Medium Rare Story, then swipe up.
